This past Sunday we celebrated International Women's Day nationwide and we were thrilled to throw an event in honor of this important day on Friday, March 6th! We hosted a free concert in our Barrel Room, brought out a special beer release, exclusive merchandise designs, and we donated a portion of sales to a great organization working to empower women. Did you join us this Friday? Comment below to share your favorite part of the event. If you couldn't make it out, here are all the details:
First, the beer.
Our wonderful bartenders joined us for the evening at bar #2 to pour Movers & Shakers, our special release for International Women's Day, among our other crowd favorites. The female movers and shakers here at DESTIHL Brewery, in collaboration with the Pink Boots Society
, were proud to present our ode to women in brewing. With the addition of lactose sugar, a specialty blend of juicy hops, and a healthy dose of sweet cherries, this milkshake IPA empowers your palate. This brew was thoroughly enjoyed throughout the evening, with a portion of the 4-pack sales going to YWCA McLean County.
We picked this great organization because of their mission to empower women and people of color through decades of community programs and resources.
Thank you to the ladies at YWCA for coming out and sharing their mission with us!
Now, the show!
Tears Dry on Their Own, a tribute to Amy Winehouse
The room was full and the band was kickin'! From 7-9PM we were able to enjoy the best hits by Amy Winehouse and originals created by the band. After each tribute, the band would take a few moments to tell fun stories about Amy, and share about the importance of mental health and mental illness awareness. The wooden barrels and twinkling lights made the perfect setting for the jazzy tunes that filled the room. Our free shows in this space have only just begun!
